Okay this episode was kind of a huge mess outside of Bamon and Oscar. I also think Julian makes a good villain and I already hate him. Everything else was just ?
I enjoyed the initial scenes between Bonnie, Damon and Alaric, followed by Bonnie asking Damon if he lied and demanding that he tell her the truth. Bonnie and Damon's reaction to each other was so cute and adorable.
Oscar, the missing heretic, was a surprise treat. He was a fully actualized character, from the moment he was introduced, and I was instantly intrigued and entertained. Not to mention, the actor portraying him is very charismatic. Whether Oscar was playing an anti-hero, good guy or villain, I would've loved him instantly.
Alaric was annoying as hell. His insensitivity towards Bonnie's suffering grated on my last nerve. I was even more ticked off that Bonnie agreed to help him, knowing that he'd rather watch her suffer than move on from his dead wife. That was irritating to watch.
But then Damon said he'd found a new family, which I thought was touching. Unfortunately, his sentiment was geared towards Bonnie and Alaric. I would've preferred if Alaric weren't apart of that trip and apart of Damon's declarations but unfortunately that wasn't to be. As for Valerie's flashbacks of Stefan, a waste of time. Felt like filler. I wanted to change the channel at several points but Bamon was still in play, she I stayed my hand and sat through it.
The episode could've been better but there were parts I truly enjoyed.
